No one was more surprised than Wanda herself, when she discovered her passion for accounting and business while at the University of Calgary. She followed the usual trajectory and started working at an accounting firm. Taxes and audits were her focus while working at, what would later become, BDO.

What stood out for Wanda was the rear-view approach most accountants have when advising their clients. Wanda wanted to help bold, ambitious entrepreneurs push forward, mitigate risks by anticipating “what ifs” and give them the business tools necessary for success.

Strategic planning for rapid growth is her strong suit.

With over 20 years as a consultant, Wanda has never waivered from this passion to support business owners in their quest for success. Although her focus is on bottom line profitability, Wanda recognizes that financial health is simply an indication of the strength or weakness of the foundation of business elements – operations, marketing, sales, people, internal culture and the unique elements each company and founder has. It is within the cornerstones that Wanda brings her strengths – identifying areas that are lacking and then building systems and processes that support rather than hinder company performance.

It is difficult to summarizes the core competencies of a 20+ year career, Wanda has performed a variety of tasks with a diverse clientele. Generally:

Creation of proactive business plans that clearly outline the steps required and the corner stones that need to be built in order to achieve success. Wanda continues to work with the clients during the implementation stage of the plan.
Auditing of system and process with the intent of increasing efficiencies.
Contract CFO, on a part-time basis, distill data into meaningful statistics for future oriented growth.
Mentor and work with full time administrative people.
Create robust projections for bank loans or to raise capital.

For fun, Wanda mentors start ups and young entrepreneurs. Teaching and inspiring are what gets her up in the morning.
